Thornbrough: a farming hamlet in Corbridge parish

Thornbrough is a small hamlet in Corbridge parish, Northumberland. The county's historic environment record traces a medieval settlement here and describes the later concentration of the township into a small number of farms. The surviving farmhouse and cottages belong to that rural history.

Thornbrough Farmhouse is Grade II listed. Historic England describes an eighteenth-century house extended in the early nineteenth century, with stone walls, a slate roof and an attached garden wall. Corbridge Parish Council's history also records earlier settlement at Thornbrough Scar, where round houses dating to the Roman period were excavated.

This is a small farming locality within the wider Corbridge area. When considering a home, use the exact address to assess its approach and the journey to Corbridge's facilities. Heritage records explain the area's development, but archaeological sites and listed private buildings should not be assumed to be open as visitor attractions.
