What is the First Homes Scheme?

The First Homes Scheme helps first‑time buyers in England get on the property ladder, by offering new build homes at a discount. With this scheme, first-time buyers can buy a newly built home at a discount of at least 30% of market value.

This new home is for sale at 30% below market value which is to remain in perpetuity and the property can only be resold in the future to an eligible First Home buyer who meets all eligibility requirements.

    • Whose previous permanent resident has been within Vale of White Horse District for either six months out of the last twelve months or three years out of the past five years prior to exchange of contracts for the relevant First Home Unit
    • Whose close family member (parent, adult children or siblings) has their current permanent residence within the Vale of White Horse District and has done so far for a continuous period of five years immediately preceding the date of advertising the First Home
    • Is currently permanently employed for at least sixteen hours per week within Vale of White Horse District
